Description: You will be the U-2 Aircraft Modification Technician for the Aircraft Modification Team which is responsible for delivering precise electrical and avionics modifications to U-2 Aircraft stationed at Beale AFB, California.
What You Will Be DoingAs the U-2 Aircraft Modification Technician you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of aircraft electrical, avionics, and system integrity while supporting modification, upgrade, and overhaul efforts.
Responsibilities- Perform troubleshooting, installation, repair, and maintenance of U‑2 electrical, avionics, landing gear, flight controls, and hydraulic systems.
- Execute maintenance actions in compliance with technical orders, fault isolation manuals, and local operational instructions.
- Document all work in maintenance data collection systems and ensure accuracy of records.
- Maintain aircraft readiness by overseeing all maintenance performed on assigned aircraft.
- Support frequent domestic and international travel, complying with passport and security requirements.
- Minimum of 3 years of U‑2 Avionics/E&E experience or 5 years of fighter (F‑15, F‑16, A‑10, etc.) experience.
- Must have a craftsmen level (7‑Level USAF) in a like position, system or equivalent such as Navy or Army.
- Active Secret Security Clearance.
- Must be a U.S. citizen; position requires special access.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- U‑2 Aircraft experience highly desired.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and understand symbols, flags, and general notes.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems, rewire, terminate, and build connectors.
- Capability to identify aircraft locations by station, butt‑line, and waterline as documented in engineering documentation, technical orders, and blueprints.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variable situations with limited standardization.
- Knowledge and competency in performing multiple skill requirements.
- Willingness to be trained and/or certified in special skills.
- Experience with aircraft modification.
This position may include required health screenings and immunizations, and may require extended work hours. Regularly required to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive movements, work overhead, use hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel, reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and twist. Confined space entry is required.
