About UsDragon Q Energy is a fast-growing, seed stage startup building next‑generation battery and super capacitor systems designed specifically to power AI data centers running high-density GPU workloads. As AI infrastructure scales, power demand is growing exponentially — and legacy energy storage solutions weren’t designed for the rapid load swings, extreme thermal density, and reliability requirements of modern AI clusters.
Having recently joined the NVIDIA Inception Program, we are developing high‑power, modular battery platforms engineered from the ground up for GPU‑heavy environments — enabling higher efficiency, improved grid resilience, and scalable deployment.
We operate in full‑stack mode: R&D → rapid prototyping → pilot manufacturing → scaled production.
Why Join Us?- Work on cutting edge technology powering the future of AI.
- Direct impact on sustainable, highefficiency data center infrastructure.
- Fastgrowing, mission driven company with significant growth opportunities.
- Competitive package: salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
We’re looking for a hands‑on Mechanical Engineer who thrives in startup environments and wants to build real hardware from scratch.
You will own mechanical design across the entire lifecycle:- Early concept development
- Rapid lab prototyping
- Design validation and test transition to pilot manufacturing
- Support for scaled production
This is not a “drawings-only” role. You’ll be in the shop, on the production floor, and in supplier meetings turning first‑of‑a‑kind energy systems into manufacturable products.
What You’ll Do:R&D & Concept Development
- Design battery and super capacitor modules, enclosures, and structural systems for high power AI data center applications.
- Develop advanced power management and bus bar solutions (air, liquid, cold plates, immersion‑ready architectures).
- Perform FEA and CFD simulations to validate mechanical and thermal performance.
- Rapidly iterate on prototypes using inhouse shop resources and external fabrication partners.
- Build and test mechanical prototypes.
- Design and execute validation plans (thermal cycling, vibration, shock, ingress protection).
- Lead failure analysis and rootcause investigations.
- Work closely with electrical engineers to integrate BMS, busbars, sensors, and power electronics.
- Translate prototypes into manufacturable designs.
- Develop assembly processes and mechanical tolerances.
- Support pilot line setup and manufacturing documentation (BOMs, drawings, work instructions).
- Collaborate with contract manufacturers and suppliers.
- Optimize cost, reliability, and scalability.
- Design containerized battery and super capacitor systems for modular data centers.
- Ensure compatibility with hyperscale AI GPU power infrastructure.
- Support installation and field deployment testing.
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
- 1+ years of experience in hardware product development (battery, power electronics, data center hardware, EV, aerospace, or similar).
- Academic achievements or industry internships in applicable areas.
- Strong CAD skills (Solid Works, Creo, or equivalent).
- Experience with FEA and thermal analysis tools.
- Deep understanding of heat transfer and high‑power density systems.
- Demonstrated experience taking a product from prototype to manufacturing.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, ambiguous startup environment.
- Experience with lithium‑ion or advanced battery systems.
- Liquid cooling system design experience.
- Experience working with high‑current busbars and structural battery assemblies.
- Familiarity with UL, IEC, NEC, NFPA and energy storage safety standards.
- Experience setting up pilot manufacturing lines.
- Love building physical hardware, not just designing it.
- Move fast and iterate quickly.
- Are comfortable balancing engineering designs under uncertainty.
- Enjoy cross‑functional collaboration in small, high‑impact teams.
- Want to help define an entirely new category of energy storage for AI infrastructure.
- The reliability of AI data centers running next‑generation GPU clusters.
- Power density and load balancing breakthroughs.
- Manufacturing scalability of advanced energy storage systems.
- The future of AI infrastructure resilience.
- $250,000 Package (Includes base, bonus, equity, benefits)
- $75,000 per year base salary
- $15,000 Cash Performance Bonus based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- $150,000 in total Equity/Equity Matching.
- Benefits:
Health insurance coverage and a desirable holiday and vacation/sick policy. - Growth & Impact:
Early‑stage ownership, leadership opportunities, and direct influence on product and technical direction.
