POSITION SUMMARY
The Application Engineer is responsible for the design, application, budgeting, and quoting of custom HVAC and air-handling systems for commercial, industrial, and specialized applications. Working closely with sales representatives and cross-functional teams, this role develops customer-focused equipment solutions, prepares accurate cost estimates and technical documentation, and manages projects from quotation through order handoff. The Application Engineer ensures designs meet customer requirements, company standards, performance expectations, and profitability goals while supporting business growth within assigned territories.
FUNCTIONSOF THE POSITION
- Support Sales Representatives and Engineering Management in achieving opportunity, booking, and divisional goals.
- Interpret plans, specifications, bid documents, blueprints, and engineered drawings to develop accurate estimates, pricing, and HVAC system designs.
- Design custom HVAC, air-handling, mechanical, piping, and controls systems in accordance with company and industry standards.
- Prepare project proposals, scopes of work, submittal packages, and technical documentation.
- Manage project priorities and schedules to meet customer deadlines and production requirements.
- Maintain CRM/Salesforce records, including quote activity, revisions, close dates, and customer information.
- Coordinate with Sales, Application Engineering, Controls/Electrical Engineering, Detailing, Purchasing, Production, and Customer Service throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead project handoff and engineering kickoff meetings, communicate project requirements, and support production activities.
- Review submittals, fabrication drawings, and shop drawings for accuracy, compliance, and alignment with approved designs.
- Track project progress, resolve technical issues, and provide post-delivery customer support and troubleshooting.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, maintain sales templates and estimating data, participate in peer reviews, and contribute to team development through cross-training and collaboration.
- Bachelor of Science - Mechanical Engineering
- General computer knowledge with emphasis in the following software applications:
AutoCAD, Excel, Word, Outlook. - Proficient in technical communication in all forms
- Great organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks on time.
- Ability to work both independently and within a cross-functional team environment.
