EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF WATER.

This employment list will also be used for future EAST and WEST Jefferson vacancies in various Departments as they occur.

The employee will review all plans and specifications submitted by others to ensure compliance with applicable parish standards prior to approval by the Director or other upper supervisory personnel; make or recommend necessary corrections, and prepare reports on revisions. The employee will conduct studies and surveys, perform computations, and determine feasibility of projects based on analysis of collected data, applying knowledge and techniques of engineering.

The employee will prepare permits for COE, LADOTD, CPRA, EJLD, and WJLD permit applications for in‑house maintenance/repairs work on water distribution systems. The employee will work with Department Directors and Field Superintendents to solve engineering problems that develop, and to resolve engineering related complaints. The position requires driving a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.

Current registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) with the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board (LAPELS) and at least three (3) years of professional engineering experience. P.E. registration from another state must obtain Louisiana registration before end of the probationary period.

Professional engineering experience indicates engineering work performed with a P.E. license.

Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.
