Overview
One of Forest City Missouri's long‑standing companies is hiring! Element Resources is a leading battery recycling facility and has served the Forest City community for over 30 years. We recover more than 99% of all lead and sulfuric acid from used batteries, providing essential recycled materials to battery manufacturers across the country.
The Environmental Manager will oversee all environmental programs and activities at our smelter facility, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Work LocationForest City is a small town of about 250 people in Holt County, Northwest Missouri, about 30 minutes from St. Joseph. The community offers museums, festivals, parks, and outdoor recreation.

- Assure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations (air, water, RCRA).
- Interact with regulatory agencies to maintain compliance as processes change.
- Stay current on new environmental regulations affecting the facility.
- Manage reporting and timely submission of regulatory documents.
- Maintain and file required databases, log sheets, and tracking systems.
- Ensure all fees, fines, and permitting costs are addressed.
- Update environmental procedures in line with changing permits and regulations.
- Track emissions for permitting requirements.
- Manage landfill and solid waste operations.
- Keep the Plant Manager updated on all environmental activities.
- Develop and train all employees and supervisors on environmental matters.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences or Environmental Management.
- At least 10 years of environmental management experience in manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of regulations under the Clean Air Act (NESHAP, NSPS), RCRA (TSDF Part B, large‑quantity generator, EPCRA), and Clean Water Act (NPDES).
- Experience managing facility operations and overseeing environmental compliance programs.
- Experience in heavy industrial settings is a plus.
Able to perform continuous walking, standing, and lifting.
Equipment UsedPC with various software and office equipment; personal protective equipment as required. This is a full‑time position with on‑site work required.
