Senior Process / Project Engineer – Midstream Oil & Gas
Location: Louisiana
Duration: 12-Month Contract-to-Hire
About the OpportunityAn established midstream energy company is seeking an experienced Senior Process / Project Engineer to support the operation, optimization, and expansion of natural gas processing and pipeline assets across Louisiana. This individual will play a key role in improving plant performance, leading capital projects, supporting operations, and evaluating new growth opportunities across a diverse portfolio of midstream facilities.

, who enjoys collaborating with operations, engineering, commercial, and construction teams to drive operational excellence.
- Provide engineering support for natural gas processing plants, compressor stations, pipelines, terminals, and related midstream assets.
- Analyze operational challenges, develop technical solutions, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and asset performance.
- Lead or support maintenance and capital projects from concept through execution, including scope development, cost estimating, scheduling, and engineering coordination.
- Manage third-party engineering consultants and coordinate project execution with field construction and operations teams.
- Perform process optimization, troubleshooting, and performance analysis for cryogenic gas processing facilities.
- Develop process simulations, hydraulic models, heat and material balances, and conceptual process designs.
- Conduct hydraulic modeling for natural gas, NGL, and crude oil pipeline systems.
- Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and support Process Safety Management (PSM) initiatives.
- Partner with commercial teams to evaluate new growth opportunities, prepare feasibility studies, and develop conceptual cost estimates.
- Perform technical due diligence for potential asset acquisitions, including engineering reviews and field evaluations.
- Interface with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders while presenting engineering updates and operational performance metrics.
- Support incident response activities as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, or a related Engineering discipline.
- 10+ years of engineering experience within the oil & gas or midstream industry.
- 5+ years of process or project engineering experience supporting operating facilities.
- Strong experience with natural gas processing plants, cryogenic facilities, compressor stations, pipelines, and terminal operations
. - Experience with Pro Max (or equivalent process simulation software) and hydraulic modeling tools.
- Ability to develop heat and material balances, troubleshoot plant operations, and optimize processing efficiency.
- Experience supporting Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and participating in or leading Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs).
- Knowledge of relief valve sizing, control valve sizing, and conceptual engineering design.
- Experience developing conceptual cost estimates for capital projects up to $10 million
. - Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operating environment.
