Bridge Engineer

Responsibilities

• Technical lead role in design for new and rehabilitation of conventional and complex bridges
• Technical lead for analysis, design, construction support services for various bridge types
• Prepare geometric/bridge layouts, construction specifications, and material quantity calculations
• Prepare Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) packages
• Review shop drawings produced by fabricators and detailers
• Conduct various types of bridge load ratings
• Conduct bridge inspections/scoping and condition assessments
• Detail oriented with an emphasis on quality work products and deliverables
• Assist with proposals, marketing, project reports and technical presentations
• Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development
• Attend client, public, project, and staff meetings

• bachelor's degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering
• a minimum of four years of transportation structural/bridge design experience
• a PE license
• a current NHI Bridge Inspection certification (preferred)
• familiarity with structural analysis and design of conventional and complex bridges
• experience in preparing MDOT, ODOT, or other DOT’s, and Local Agency bridge design packages
• software experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Micro Station/Geopak/ORD
• knowledge of AASHTO, AREMA, and DOT design standards
• excellent technical writing, organization and communication skills
• self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively
