Commissioning Engineer, AMER-Central ACx

We are seeking an experienced Critical Infrastructure Commissioning Engineer to join a highly creative, efficient team tasked with tackling challenging problems in building and supporting the operations of Amazon‑owned data centers. The Commissioning Engineer (CxE) will be responsible for supporting vendors, contractors, and other teams involved in the construction and commissioning of various systems, including:

• Medium and low voltage power systems
• Generators
• UPS
• HVAC (Air Handlers / Exhaust Fans / VFD)
• Chilled Water Systems
• Building Management Systems (BMS)
• Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS)
• Testing and balancing
• Pumps and Hydronic systems

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

• Provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure, including reviewing design documents and equipment submittals.
• Lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT) and manage third‑party commissioning vendors.
• Own project success, resolve technical issues, and address schedule impacts.
• Share lessons learned to promote team growth and program improvements.
• Provide multi‑discipline input into scheduling, test‑script development, design, and project planning.
• Audit Cx vendors’ activities for compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements.
• Report commissioning progress and metrics using the AWS project reporting format.
• Lead multiple projects simultaneously, manage project budgets, and achieve key milestones.

On a typical project, the CxE coordinates site activities across AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractor teams to prioritize tasks, ensure issue resolution, and maintain project momentum. The CxE also manages the commissioning vendor, escalates risks to stakeholders, and documents lessons learned for future projects.

• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities, including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas.
• 4+ years of commissioning experience.
• 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.

• Professional Engineer License.
• Experience with building codes and regional regulations.
• Experience carrying design concepts from exploration through deployment or mass production.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

Base salary range: $ - $ annually (USA, MO, New Florence). Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
