Kwame Building Group (KBG) is seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer to support the design and engineering of a major airport terminal construction project. This position will play an important role in ensuring mechanical systems are properly designed, coordinated, reviewed, and implemented in accordance with project requirements, applicable codes, industry standards, and KBG’s commitment to quality and excellence.

The ideal candidate will be a mid-level engineering professional with experience supporting complex commercial, institutional, transportation, or aviation facilities. The Mechanical Engineer will work collaboratively with KBG project leadership, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, airport representatives, and other stakeholders throughout the design and construction process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the design and engineering of mechanical systems for airport terminal facilities, including HVAC, ventilation, plumbing, hydronic systems, controls, and related building systems.
  • Review mechanical drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment schedules, and other technical documentation for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, fire protection, civil, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Participate in design coordination meetings and provide technical recommendations regarding mechanical systems.
  • Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, product data, Requests for Information (RFIs), and proposed design changes.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving mechanical design conflicts, constructability concerns, and field coordination issues.
  • Perform site visits and field observations to verify mechanical installations are consistent with approved plans, specifications, and project standards.
  • Support equipment selection and evaluation for HVAC and other mechanical systems.
  • Assist with mechanical system calculations, equipment sizing, load analysis, and energy-efficiency evaluations.
  • Coordinate mechanical requirements with airport operations and project stakeholders to minimize impacts to active airport facilities.
  • Support testing, balancing, startup, commissioning, inspections, punch-list activities, and turnover of mechanical systems.
  • Assist with reviewing change orders and evaluating changes to the mechanical scope of work.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and assist with technical reports, project updates, and engineering correspondence.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable building, mechanical, and energy codes, airport requirements, and industry standards.
  • Promote quality, safety, constructability, sustainability, and maintainability throughout the design and construction process.
  • Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment while successfully managing multiple projects, assignments, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Perform other engineering and project-related duties as assigned.
