Landfill Gas Technician

Waste Connections is seeking a skilled Region Landfill Engineer to join our innovative team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, operation, and management of landfill projects across multiple regions. Our mission is to lead the sector in sustainable waste management, and your work will play a crucial part in maintaining our commitment to environment-friendly practices while assuring regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design and oversee construction of new landfill sites, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Coordinate with environmental engineers and regulatory bodies to monitor and report on landfill gas emissions and leachate management.
• Develop and implement operational plans to maximize lifespan and efficiency of landfill sites.
• Evaluate and apply innovative technologies and methods in waste containment, and erosion and sediment control.
• Provide technical guidance and training to site managers and staff regarding landfill operations and maintenance.
• Prepare budget reports and forecast long-term planning for post-closure care funds and environmental monitoring.
• Liaise with community stakeholders and participate in public meetings to address concerns and promote the company's environmental initiatives.

Required Skills

• Expertise in civil, environmental, or geotechnical engineering principles.
• Strong proficiency in CAD software and Geographic Information System (GIS).
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and safety standards in landfill management.
• Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
