The Systems Technician IIIisaseniorhands-ontechnicianontheservermanufacturingteam.
Thisroleassembles,configures,tests,troubleshoots,repairs,andreworksserverandcomputesystemssotheymeetqualityrequirementsandshiponschedule.
Thetechnicianisexpectedtoisolatehardwareandconfigurationfailures,replaceorcorrectdefectivecomponents,complete rework,andreturnsystemstoproductionflowwithaccuratedocumentation.
Successinthisrolecomesfromstrongserverhardwareknowledge,disciplined troubleshooting,attentiontoworkmanship,andawillingnesstoworkside-by-sidewithproductionteammates.
Theday-to-dayworkisperformedon-siteatproductionstationsandtestareas,withafocusonphysicalsystems,testresults,repair actions,and throughput—notongoingadministrationofenterpriseITenvironments.
- Reviewworkorders,billsofmaterial,configuration sheets,andbuildinstructionsbeforebeginningwork.
- Assembleanddisassembleserver,rack,edge,andothercomputesystemsusingapprovedtools,procedures,andESDpractices.
- Install,replace,andverifycomponentssuchasmotherboards,processors,memory,storage devices,RAID/HBAcontrollers,network adapters,power supplies,fans,cables,andrelatedhardware.
- Performcomponentswaps,cable corrections,firmware updates,andotherreworkneededtocorrectproductionortestfailures.
- Complete BIOS,IPMI,DMI,controller firmware,andothersystem-levelconfigurationrequiredtovalidatethefinishedproduct.
- Runburn-in,functional testing,diagnostics,inspection,HiPot,andothervalidationstepsaccordingtoworkinstructions.
- ConfigureandvalidateRAIDsolutions,includingRAID1,5,6,and
10,hotspares,and applicable
Windowsor
LinuxRAIDconfigurations. - Load operating-system images,drivers,firmware,andrequiredutilitiesonlyasneededtobuildandvalidatecustomersystems.
- Verifysystemperformance,component recognition,boot behavior,storage configuration,andtestcompletionbeforereleasetothenextproductionstep.
- Diagnose assembly,power-on,POST,boot,storage,memory,thermal,firmware,andotherhardwareortestfailures.
- Use testresults,error codes,system logs,visual inspection,andstructuredfaultisolationtoidentifythelikelycauseofafailure.
- Independentlyresolveroutineissues,performapprovedrepairsandrework,andescalatecomplexorrecurringproblemstothe
Manufacturing Supervisoror Engineering . - Supportnonconformanceinvestigation,containment,root-cause analysis,corrective actions,andCAPAactivitiesasassigned.
- Helpnewproductintroductions,engineering evaluations,pilot builds,andproductionchangesmovesuccessfullythroughassemblyandtest.
- Accuratelyrecordserialnumbers,component changes,defect information,repair actions,testresults,anddispositionofsystems.
- Identifyerrorsorgapsinworkinstructions,configuration sheets,andcontrolleddocuments;communicateneededupdatesthroughtheproperprocess.
- Follow safety,quality,workmanship,ESD,and process-compliancerequirementsatalltimes.
- Workwith Production,Engineering,Quality,and Materialstoresolveissuesquicklyandkeepbuildsmovingtoschedule.
- Identifypracticalimprovementsthatincreasefirst-passyield,repair quality,accuracy,productivity,andproductionflow.
- Provide day-to-daytechnicalguidancetoproductiontechniciansandhelptrainnewteammembersonbuild,test,repair,andsafetyprocedures.
- Communicateproblemsclearly,takeownershipofassignedwork,andrespondwithappropriateurgencywhenproductionisatrisk.
