Senior Consultant, Air Quality Compliance in Engineering or Science

Role

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, such as chemical, environmental, civil, or mechanical engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
• Practical knowledge of local, state, and federal air quality programs, including Title V and RECLAIM facilities.
• Direct consulting or industry experience in environmental work, with hands-on understanding of regulations from local air districts such as SCAQMD, along with state and federal air programs.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, stay flexible, travel when needed, and work independently with limited supervision.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply environmental regulations and agency guidance effectively.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, with advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
• Ability to perform well in a fast-paced consulting setting while managing several assignments, meeting tight deadlines, and traveling to client sites as required.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing experience.

• Experience working with agencies such as local Air Quality Management Districts, the California Air Resources Board, and other regulators in the Southwest.
• Strong technical background in emissions inventories, permitting, and compliance reviews; familiarity with pollution control systems and related equipment is a plus.
• Knowledge of water, wastewater, and waste management programs is an advantage.
• Field experience in data collection, air compliance monitoring, environmental assessments, and permitting; additional experience with stormwater inspections, SWPPP updates, HMBP preparation, wastewater permit applications, or technical writing is beneficial.
• Strong ability to interpret environmental regulations and guidance documents.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills supported by solid computational ability.
• Demonstrated success in managing projects and maintaining long-term client relationships.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel.

• Prepare emissions inventories, permit applications, and compliance reports.
• Conduct regulatory applicability reviews and help implement compliance management systems.
• Perform field activities such as air compliance inspections and multi-media environmental assessments.
• Coordinate with regulators and clients to support timely permit review and approval.
• Foster a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and high-quality project execution.
