Location: California

  • Define Blue Origin’s Human Landing System, a lunar lander carrying astronauts to the Moon’s surface and returning them safely to Orion
  • Own requirements decomposition, allocation, and traceability for a complex, cross-cutting system area
  • Set the technical plan for proving the assigned scope
  • Own verification requirements, methods, procedures, evidence, and closure
  • Use system safety work to drive system changes and disposition variances/deviations using a risk-based standard
  • Perform root-cause analysis and corrective action on major-scope technical issues
  • Serve as systems-engineering point of contact for design IPTs
  • Represent the assigned area at engineering and program reviews
  • Drive requirements and verification-and-validation tool and process improvements
  • Coordinate across sites and partners
Requirements
  • B.S. in aerospace, systems, or a related engineering field; an advanced degree may substitute for a portion of the experience requirement
  • 5–8 years of experience solving systems-level engineering problems, with demonstrated work in requirements, verification, or system safety
  • Demonstrated ownership of a complex, cross-cutting technical area with minimal oversight
  • Working knowledge of interface management (ICDs/IRDs), requirements traceability and verification, and variance/deviation processes
  • Ability to set a technical plan and drive it to closure across design IPTs without direct authority
  • Proficiency with SE tooling (Jama, DOORS, Cameo, Windchill) and tool-driven workflows
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident/current Green Card holder, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Technical assessment required during interviews
  • Travel expected up to 25% of the time
