Lead the Vehicle Performance Integration Team and VPIT/Dev-Val reviews
Make data-driven decisions on relevant vehicle performance topics
Guide vehicle performance balance across integration groups and serve as the program’s single point of performance integration
Participate in GV planning for Mule, IVER, and PPV vehicle builds
Provide tuning direction and prioritization for Energy, Vehicle Dynamics, NVH, Drivability, and overall vehicle performance
Ensure integration is completed on time for production milestones
Manage and prioritize IVER shared property usage to complete tuning releases and validation on schedule
Manage vehicle technical specifications and development/validation to requirements
Participate in change control for all vehicle systems
Manage vehicle development fleet usage and counts within annual budget allocation
Lead vehicle buy-off rides with vehicle performance status and issue lists
Support the Global Vehicle Chief Engineer through VAPIR and PET meetings and reviews
Communicate vehicle performance execution updates to leadership
Support development of processes, tools, and future capabilities for defense ground vehicle development
Work directly with government customers and defense industry technical partners
Coordinate and lead onsite customer visits and evaluations at MPG or Warren
Support testing at customer facilities, including Army bases, Aberdeen, NATC, and Yuma
Adhere to all safety precautions and requirements
Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related
- Minimum 8 years total engineering experience
- Minimum 3 years of Vehicle Development experience in Ride & Handling, Noise and Vibration, Energy/Drive Quality, Chassis Controls, Vehicle controls and/or calibration, including integration centers
- In-depth knowledge of hardware, software, and calibration interfaces
- Ability to lead vehicle performance and work cooperatively with Systems, Controls, Propulsion, Software, Integration, and supplier teams
- Strong interpersonal skills to motivate and inspire employees
- Strong innovation and execution balance
- Strength in dealing with ambiguity
- Broad knowledge of vehicle development process and key deliverables
- DFSS Black Belt
- Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis
- Travel as required
- Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee, or refugee
- Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future
- Must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review
- Position is subject to export control restrictions
- Preferred: MS in engineering or business
- Preferred: experience on military or government projects
- Preferred: experience in advanced and execution vehicle performance roles
- Preferred: 5–10 years in Vehicle Development across multiple disciplines
- Preferred: 2–3 years SMT Design Release Engineer experience
- Preferred: 2–3 years management or equivalent people leader experience
- Preferred: in-depth knowledge of truck vehicle integration and military ground wheel vehicles
