Job Description:

NDTI has an exciting opportunity for an Electronic Warfare (EW) Operations Engineer with strong EW background to support operations at Point Mugu, CA. The candidate will lead, coordinate and support operational deployment of ground, surface and airborne electronic attack (EA) and radar simulators in support of US Weapon system testing and training at different locations and Test Ranges in the US.

The candidate requires strong radio frequency (RF) system knowledge and troubleshooting skills, as well as an understanding of EA and radar system principles.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for coordination, testing, integration, and support of EA and radar simulators in full-scale/subscale aerial targets, surface boats, ground base systems and laboratory environments is required.
  • The position involves occasional visits to sponsor facilities for requirements discussions and/or onsite testing, as well as field support for operations requiring Electronic Attack (EA) and radar simulator systems for weapon system testing and training events.
  • The engineer will lead a team to ensure completion of customer milestones and ensure that hardware system development, fabrication, testing, integration, and field support of electronic combat devices are completed on time and within budget.
  • Project management and leadership skills are required in executing project plans, schedules, and detailed phases of technical work.
  • The engineer shall serve as an effective team member and lead as assigned, requiring substantial interfacing and coordination with military and Government test authorities, flight test engineers, and private industry.
  • Lead, coordinate and support operational deployment of ground, surface and airborne electronic attack and radar simulators in support of US Weapon system testing and training at different locations and Test Ranges in the US.
  • Responsible for the integration, programming and troubleshooting of electronic attack and radar simulators into subscale/full scale aircraft, boats, ground-based systems and laboratories at different locations and Test Ranges in the US.
  • Provide written and oral presentations to management, contractors and program sponsors on program support status and the organization's current and future electronic warfare capabilities.
  • Communicate and coordinate with program sponsors and ATSO team to ensure program test or training requirements are successfully supported.
  • Monitor and track sponsor project funding and overall progress of any developmental projects, submit spend plans and updates to project financial managers as required.
  • Communicate with sponsor program engineers to assess effectiveness of EA and emitter systems during missions and obtain more in-depth understanding of weapon system specifics.
Education and Work Experience Requirements

Due to customer requirements, U.S Citizenship is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoW Security Clearance for duration of employment.

  • BS degree in an applicable engineering field and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related engineering field
  • Experience programming and/or assembly of microwave components, and performing system level configuration, integration and testing in an airborne or laboratory environment with specialized test equipment such as spectrum and vector analyzers, RF Synthesizers, and RF Power meters.
  • Experience with project management, leadership, and written and oral communication skills in order to brief capabilities to program sponsors and subsequently coordinate their operational test and/or training requirements.
  • Strong technical background in an engineering, mathematics, or scientific discipline
  • Experience with EW principles, including electronic attack and/or electronic protection
  • Knowledge of radar principles
  • Capable of working both independently and in a team environment
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance for the duration of employment
  • 25% to 50% travel required
Additional Qualifications - Preferred
  • Experience deploying, supporting and testing electronic attack and radar systems in electronic warfare environments.
  • Analysis experience in aspects of airborne EW systems
  • Experience with radar scheduling, signal processing, tracking, discrimination, and/or electronic warfare
