The OpportunityThe High Voltage Test Engineer supports Transformer Services operations by performing high voltage testing activities at customer sites and supporting technical field operations. Based in Earth City, Missouri, this role is responsible for operating mobile high voltage test equipment, conducting electrical tests, evaluating test results, and supporting transformer service activities. The position involves identifying sources of partial discharge, developing corrective action plans, analyzing electrical test and oil DGA data, maintaining test systems, and preparing technical reports.
Working closely with customers, field crews, and engineering teams, you will help ensure the accurate assessment and testing of transformer equipment that supports reliable power system operation.
- Set up and operate a mobile high voltage test trailer system.
- Perform applied voltage, induced voltage, partial discharge localization, and temperature rise testing.
- Investigate potential sources of partial discharge and develop corrective action plans.
- Analyze electrical test data and oil DGA results.
- Calibrate testing equipment.
- Maintain the electrical and electronic components of the mobile test system.
- Prepare technical test reports and test plans in support of proposal activities.
- Provide technical support to field crews and communicate with customers.
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with five or more years of experience, or a combination of studies and ten years or more of transformer experience.
- Experience performing transformer testing and supporting field service operations.
- Knowledge of IEEE, IEC, and NEMA industry standards.
- Experience using Microsoft Office 365 and preparing technical reports.
- Hands-on experience performing low voltage testing such as winding resistance, turns ratio, excitation, and power factor is preferred.
- Willingness to travel. If based Earth City, MO travel expectations are 40%-50%, If based remote, travel expectations between 50%-60%.

Pay Disclosure (California Applicants Only):The total base pay range for the High Voltage Test Engineer position is $105,800 - $158,600. This pay scale reflects the amount the company reasonably expects to offer for this role in California, in accordance with California Labor Code
