Performs a broad range of technical and laboratory activities supporting product development, verification, validation, and sustaining engineering efforts within a regulated R&D environment. Applies technical knowledge and practical experience to execute testing, troubleshoot equipment and systems, and support engineering projects with limited supervision. Works within established procedures and quality system requirements while exercising judgment in selecting appropriate methods and approaches for routine and moderately complex assignments.

Serves as a technical resource for less experienced technicians and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.

Engineering Tech I/II's are also responsible for:
Performs and supports engineering experiments, product evaluations, and testing activities in accordance with approved protocols and project requirements. Collects, analyzes, and documents test data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with quality system requirements. Prepares test summaries, reports, and technical documentation to support engineering reviews and project milestones. Assists engineers in the development, setup, modification, and validation of test methods, fixtures, and equipment.

Constructs, configures, operates, and maintains laboratory test equipment, instrumentation, and prototype assemblies. Downloads, configures, and verifies software, firmware, and test programs used in engineering and laboratory testing. Performs functional testing, fault isolation, root cause investigations, and troubleshooting of electronic, electro-mechanical, and test systems. Supports verification and validation activities for new products, design changes, and sustaining engineering projects. Reviews test data and identifies trends, anomalies, or failures requiring additional investigation.

Assists with engineering change orders (ECOs), design documentation updates, and controlled document reviews. Maintains accurate laboratory records, equipment logs, calibration records, and preventive maintenance documentation. Ensures laboratory equipment and test fixtures remain qualified, operational, and available to support project schedules. Performs soldering, rework, repair, and assembly of electronic circuits, PCB assemblies, and prototype hardware. Supports investigation, documentation, and resolution of nonconformances and test‑related issues.

Maintains laboratory organization, inventory, and housekeeping in accordance with safety and 5S standards. Provides guidance and training to entry-level technicians on laboratory procedures, equipment operation, and best practices.
