Your mission

Reporting directly to the Technical Director, you will be responsible for operating the Sound, Video and Communications (SVC) department according to prescribed parameters, working in collaboration with the creative and production teams and suppliers.

Main responsibilities

General

  • Manage and supervise all aspects of the SVC department and its team;
  • Operate the equipment and systems during performances and rehearsals;
  • Manage the use, maintenance and repair of equipment used by artists during performances, rehearsals and training periods;
  • Always ensure the safety and security of the department's equipment;
  • Provide advice, recommendations and information on any security or safety issues;
  • Ensure that your team complies with all Cirque du Soleil health and safety and rescue standards;
  • Develop, implement and ensure compliance with a safety inspection program for the systems and equipment under your responsibility;
  • Inspect and maintain all systems equipment under your responsibility and keep records of inspections and modifications;
  • Maintain the integrity of the artistic concepts and the quality of the show;
  • Help the Technical Director in hiring the SVC technicians when needed;
  • Attend relevant meetings;
  • Carry out any other tasks required for the seamless and safe operation of the show.

Project Management

  • Plan, manage and follow up assigned projects, and ensures that they meet artistic and technical needs, as well as established standards, deadlines and budgets;
  • Elaborate lists and layout of system equipment under your responsibility;
  • In collaboration with the Technical Director, keep equipment archives, stock lists, and technical documentation up to date;
  • In collaboration with the Technical Director, establish budget estimations, coordinate budget forecasts and manage costs;
  • Research and propose techniques, equipment, materials or new methods that can optimize the results of projects or solve problems;
  • Collect, draft and distribute final documentation and obtain final approval.

Skills and knowledge

  • Ability to deal with the unexpected tasks and work well under pressure;
  • Team spirit;
  • Advanced technical knowledge of the equipment and systems under your responsibility;
  • Experience in personnel management;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Great foresight and ability to resolve unexpected situations;
  • Willingness to learn how to use new systems and tools.

Requirements

  • Professional or technical training in audio engineering, live sound, or any relevant experience;
  • At least 6 years of experience in technical operation of shows;
  • Advanced knowledge of digital mixing consoles and show control systems;
  • Knowledge of video playback and routing systems, as well as intercom and communications systems (e.g., Clear-Com, Riedel);
  • Familiarity with networked audio protocols (Dante, MADI, AES
    50) and RF/wireless microphone and in-ear monitor systems
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office suite;
  • Fluent in English, Spanish is an asset;
  • Available to work variable hours at predefined times;
  • Available to relocate to Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico, where the theatre is located.
