Our St. Louis client is seeking an experienced professional in accounting and administrative functions supporting the overall financial affairs of their multiple entities along with management and oversight for property management accounting services conducted by their team. This role is ideal for a self-directed, highly organized individual with experience in financial administration and property accounting. The right candidate will have the judgment, professionalism, and background experience that allows her/him to provide consistent, reliable and expert execution of daily operations.
PRIMARYRESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and administer full cycle accounting for company and entities including but not limited to preparing cash flow forecasts and monthly financial statements with budget variance comments, performing bank reconciliations, and overseeing AP, AR.
- Prepare annual budgets for company and assist property management accounting team with budget preparation, including capital budgeting
- Oversee the company credit card operations including spending, billbacks, receipt documentation
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and all state and local tax requirements including production of 1099's, 401K plan reporting, etc.
- Cooperate with accountants for annual tax filing and any audits for our companies or our clients
- Liaise with banks, legal counsel, tax advisors, our clients’ financial officers, and other professional service providers
- Oversee company benefits administration including preparing employee census, compiling payroll records and other financials required/requested, engaging with employees and serving as a liaison between our benefits providers
- Responsible for managing the business insurance renewal process, maintaining accurate records for coverage calculations and acting as liaison with insurance broker and carriers
- Perform all payroll operations for both companies ensuring compliance, accuracy, timely processing utilizing our HR/payroll system (through third party payroll processor) to its highest and best use
- Perform all AP and AR for company ensuring timely and detailed invoicing to clients for services and reimbursements and prompt posting and processing of receivables
- Manage personnel onboarding and off boarding procedures with support of Managers
- Mentor and develop accounting staff using supportive and collaborative approach, modeling and leading by example
- Prepare an annual internal accounting calendar and policies, processes and procedures that ensure internal controls, efficiency and timeliness of financial operations
- Perform and/or assist property management accounting team with month-end closing activities including journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations
- Regularly review reports and other submittals prepared by property management accounting team to ensure accuracy, efficiency in preparation process and compliance with client requirements
- Respond to and resolve issues and requests from leadership, property management accounting team, clients and tenants regarding various accounting issues and reports
- Manage the preparation and dissemination of annual Tenant CAM reconciliations and prepare other lease/financial tracking or analysis that may be requested or required from time to time
- Develop, enhance and maintain organized systems for document management and compliance tracking
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5-7 years of accounting and administrative experience in office environment
- 3-5 years of commercial property accounting experience
- Solid understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles
- Advanced proficiency in accounting systems-particularly property accounting systems, Microsoft Excel, payroll and document management tools
- Highly ethical, discreet, and committed to exceptional service
- Meticulous attention to detail and ownership of work product
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to build trust and maintain productive relationships with company leadership, advisors, clients and vendors
