Position OverviewThe Associate Actuary will perform inforce management analysis primarily for the US Asset Intensive business covering complex liabilities (Universal Life with Secondary Guarantee, Variable Universal Life, Indexed Universal Life, etc.), support development and management of monitoring analysis, support onboarding of new transactions, support management of inforce transactions, and complete inforce management reporting for complex liabilities business treaties.
Responsibilities- Integrates results from asset and liability models to form a comprehensive view of each asset intensive treaty.
- Develop and maintain the monitoring and reviewing processes and reports of actual settlement versus assumptions and/or pricing for complex liabilities products.
- Works with pricing actuaries to understand the major risks for in‑force treaties and assists with the ongoing management of those risks.
- Develop and track quarterly experience analysis for inforce treaties and assist with experience analysis to explain expected results.
- Develop monitoring tools to ensure non‑guaranteed elements of insurance products are managed in accordance with coinsurance agreements with cedant companies.
- Support key projects under other inforce management teams.
- Assists with the development of the annual USIM financial plan.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with other USIM and Inforce Management team members.
- Work with junior actuarial staff in directing their workflow and providing mentorship.
- Participates in key unit and ad‑hoc department projects as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Sciences, Math, Finance, Statistics, or related field.
- FSA certification (or equivalent) and 6+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance/reinsurance OR
- ASA certification (or equivalent) and 10+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance/reinsurance.
- Intermediate PC and technical skills, including database applications (Access, SQL, or equivalent technology), spreadsheets, statistical programs and actuarial software (Prophet or equivalent), programming experience in Python and VBA.
- Competent knowledge and understanding of actuarial ALM and risk management concepts.
- Competent knowledge and understanding of key insurance‑related concepts, including life and annuity products, reinsurance contracts, and basic GAAP, Statutory, and tax accounting principles.
- Ability to compile, analyze, refine, and interpret large amounts of financial data/results and model projections.
- Ability to be flexible when needed, take initiative, and demonstrate accountability.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to share and impart knowledge.
