Classification: ANALYST II – Salary: $6,031.00 – $7,547.00 per month (New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable)
Location:
Sacramento, with hybrid telework option (eligible applicants residing in California can work remotely and report to the office).
- Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager of the Fiscal Payments II Unit, the SSM II of the Administrative Services Unit, the Director, and Associate Directors of the Special Education Division (SED), independently provides budgets staff support.
- Manage internal and external budgeting for the Division; analyze expenditures to ensure items are appropriate and over‑expenditure of funding does not occur; monitor monthly budget reports, subvention reports, and administrative cost reports.
- Track the Federal and State Budget related to special education; ensure Federal and State funds are appropriately allocated; prepare reports based on the CDE’s Fiscal and Administrative Services Division and Department of Finance Drills.
- Prepare SED budget change proposals, budget revisions, finance letters, and other budget documents and administrative cost reports; identify and resolve fiscal discrepancies; prepare the annual state maintenance of financial support; prepare and analyze monthly budget projections; and prepare, review, and edit reports as required of the Division.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel
- Strong analytical skills, problem‑solving skills, and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong written, oral, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to exercise initiative, independence, and accuracy to research and evaluate complex issues of data, determine outcomes, and present findings to support recommendations
- Ability to work well as a team member and to work effectively with all levels of staff and management
