The CDSS Financial Management Branch, Allocations Section is looking for highly motivated Analyst I’s and/or Analyst II’s with strong math and analytical skills who enjoy working in a dynamic and high-profile environment.

Within the Fiscal Policy and Analysis Bureau, the Allocations Section establishes and maintains the allocation methodologies for the programs administered by the County Welfare Departments and Probation Departments. In addition, the Allocations Section is responsible for the fiscal review of administrative expenditures claimed by the counties.

Under the direction of the Supervisor I, the incumbent is responsible for performing financial oversight of fiscal issues as it pertains to local assistance funding. This involves developing allocation formulas using the various Departmental data sources that are available. The incumbent must be able to research, analyze legislation and prepare clearly written County Fiscal Letters. The incumbent must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word and be able to prepare spreadsheets and word documents necessary for the analysis, development and release of county allocations and must be able to work under limited time frames associated with the statutory budget cycle and budget subvention process.

Working Conditions

This work location is very convenient! The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation: within walking distance of the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmers’ markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50, and Highway 80.

This position is eligible for hybrid work in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order N-22-25 and at the sole discretion of the Department of Social Services under California Government Code Section 14200. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be re‑evaluated at any time. The incumbent will be expected to report for in‑office work and attend work related in‑person events as deemed operationally necessary.

Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the CDSS policies. For positions advertised in more than one location, headquarter location may be designated on the selected candidate’s primary residence location, and/or the closest CDSS location in accordance with operational need and available space. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
