Overview

VP of Finance – Startup –

Location:

South Bay/San Jose, CA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite). Duration: 4–6 months (with potential to extend or convert).

We’re partnering with a venture-backed technology startup that has recently closed a new funding round and is seeking an experienced Finance Leader to lead and scale its finance function during a critical growth phase. This is a high-impact opportunity for a hands-on finance leader who has built or scaled finance operations in an early-stage startup environment and enjoys working closely with founders and executive leadership.

• Own the annual budgeting process and rolling 12-month forecast
• Translate product and business roadmaps into actionable financial models
• Oversee core financial operations including AP/AR, payroll, tax compliance, and month-end close
• Manage relationships with external accounting and advisory partners
• Establish scalable processes and internal controls appropriate for a growing startup
• Track and analyze key SaaS metrics
• Support founders through future fundraising efforts
• Maintain investor data rooms and prepare board and investor reporting materials
• Build executive-level presentations for leadership and stakeholders

• 6+ years of finance experience within high-growth, venture-backed startups (Series A–D)
• Strong foundation in accounting fundamentals (GL, AP/AR, revenue recognition)
• Proven experience building clear, driver-based financial models
• Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills
• Ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders
• Experience with SaaS, Subscription-based business models preferred
