Overview
Position Information The Financial Reporting Analyst provides analytical and transactional financial support for the UCR School of Medicine, working closely with the SOM Business Operations team to ensure accurate budgeting, financial reporting, account reconciliation, and compliance with University policies. This position supports day-to-day financial operations by analyzing financial data of limited to moderate complexity, processing complex financial transactions, and assisting with budget planning and monitoring across multiple funding sources.
The role contributes to sound financial decision-making, strong internal controls, and the effective stewardship of University resources in support of the School of Medicine’s academic, clinical, and administrative missions. The full salary range for the Financial Reporting Analyst is $33.92 - $49.61 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $39.04 hourly. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.
The Financial Reporting Analyst applies professional financial concepts and established policies to perform a broad range of financial and budgetary analysis in support of the School of Medicine. Responsible for analyzing financial data of limited to moderate complexity, preparing routine and ad hoc financial reports, reconciling accounts, and processing complex financial transactions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper stewardship of University resources.
Exercises judgment within defined guidelines to resolve financial issues, identify discrepancies, and make appropriate recommendations. Works under general supervision and collaborates regularly with department leadership, Business Operations staff, and other internal stakeholders, with occasional contact outside the department as needed to support financial operations.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Experience Requirements
2-4 years of related experience. Experience in higher education setting.
Minimum Requirements
- Ability to function as a member of a team.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; service orientation; critical thinking; attention to detail; ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills.
- Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information, organizes, and performs basic financial analysis assignments.
- Demonstrated ability to use spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
- Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner both in writing and verbally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems.
- Intermediate/advanced skills in Excel in order to develop financial reports, as well as merge data from different data sources.
- Knowledge of fund accounting and familiarity with basic GAAP principles.
