The Relationship Manager (RM) is responsible for coordinating between sales, underwriting, and operations teams to convert leads into actionable opportunities, from initial deal and borrower analysis to loan funding. A primary focus will be loan portfolio management, ensuring an excellent customer experience throughout the sales process. The RM will also build strong relationships with clients to facilitate referrals.
Essential Functions- Oversee the customer onboarding process, introducing clients to our team, process, and setting appropriate expectations regarding borrower urgency and timelines.
- Collaborate with Loan Officers, Sales, Underwriting, and Operations teams on loan analysis, structuring, pricing, and data/document collection for Genesis Capital loans.
- Present potential loans and borrowers to the Credit Committee for approval.
- Underwrite, analyze, perform due diligence, and package files for new loans and prospective borrowers.
- Manage the loan portfolio, focusing on current month closings, identifying issues for escalation, and coordinating solutions.
- Handle portfolio management tasks such as collecting financial reports, preparing status updates, reviewing covenant compliance, and expediting difficult loans.
- Coordinate across internal teams to support effective performance and client benefit.
- Participate in daily huddles and pipeline reviews to resolve or escalate issues preventing loan progress.
- Conduct ongoing client relationship reviews and develop solutions to address client needs.
- Enhance and deepen relationships with existing and new borrowers, fostering a positive customer experience.
- Assist with other projects and functions as needed.
- Ensure collaboration across all functions throughout the loan lifecycle.
- Minimum 5 years in commercial/construction underwriting or a similar role.
- Real estate license required.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience in a sales environment.
- Excellent customer service and relationship management skills, with high attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with high-level clients and their teams.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Self-motivated with ownership of responsibilities.
- Adaptability to changing work environments.
