Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

Cooper Douglas is partnering with a national service organization that manages large, complex, high-value projects to identify a Controller who will lead accounting operations and help scale the finance function during a period of continued growth.

This is a highly visible leadership role overseeing close, financial reporting, WIP, payroll, cash management, and ERP integrity while partnering closely with operations and executive leadership.

What you will own

• Lead AP, AR, general ledger, payroll, and cost accounting
• Own monthly close and preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements
• Manage Work-in-Progress schedules and project margin reporting
• Oversee payroll processing and payroll controls
• Drive cash flow forecasting and daily treasury activity
• Review job cost performance with project managers and support forecasting
• Maintain fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules
• Support sales and use tax compliance and filings
• Oversee billing, receivables strategy, and credit management
• Ensure ERP and project platform integrity including Procore integration
• Strengthen internal controls, policies, and scalable close procedures
• Serve as primary liaison to auditors, tax advisors, and consultants
• Partner with operations and senior leadership on performance and risk
• Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA required with Big 4 or top-tier regional foundation
• 10+ years progressive accounting experience with full close ownership
• Construction or project-based accounting background required
• Strong GAAP and long-term contract revenue recognition expertise
• Dynamics 365 experience strongly preferred
• Advanced Excel and prior team leadership experience

Compensation: Up to $265,000 + bonus
