Job Description:

REPORTS TO:

Superintendent

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree or higher in business, accounting or other finance-related field. An individual

who holds this position must be bondable in accordance with Missouri law.

JOB GOAL:

To develop and maintain a program of financial stability that ensures timely processing of

purchasing and ordering as well as reconciliation of financial statements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop the annual budget in consultation with the superintendent

2. Oversees all purchasing in the district

3. Invest district funds in accordance with state law and Board policy

4. Submit all financial reports required by state or federal authorities

5. Prepare financial reports for Board meetings

6. Identify and provide the Board information about all available sources of funding

7. Stay informed about changes in school finance at the state and federal levels

8. Assist with posting the notice of the tax rate hearing in accordance with Missouri law

9. Assist with solicitation of bids and make recommendations to the Board regarding

depositories of district funds in accordance with Missouri law

10. Transfer money between funds in accordance with DESE rules

11. Assist with grant application and administration

12. Make recommendations to the Board on the selection of an auditing firm

13. Arrange for audits and work with auditors to implement recommendations

14. Control the use of district credit and procurement cards in accordance with Board policy

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to see close work such as typed or handwritten material. While performing the duties of

this position an employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. They will be regularly

required to sit, walk, hear and speak, meet deadlines with severe time constraints, and the

position occasionally requires an employee to work extended hours. A moderate amount of

travel, both in and out of state, may be required. Close vision ability to look at a computer

screen for long periods of time is required.
