As a Senior Manager – Sales and Use Tax, you will manage and coordinate all activities related to the sales and use tax function, including compliance reporting, tax audits, research, tax process technologies, and tax planning. You will exhibit leadership in enhancing long‑term department objectives.

In This Role You Will
  • Provide leadership in all aspects of coordinated tax department responses (technology, law, and administration) to senior management and district personnel.
  • Actively engage with district management to resolve customer, product classification, and delivery queries.
  • Manage, train, and direct other sales tax department personnel.
  • Identify, analyze, and research sales and use tax law changes and determine their impact on the Company; implement procedural changes where required; update Company General Instructions in response to changing legislative developments.
  • Research and evaluate domestic and international tax planning opportunities.
  • Coordinate, support, and assist with sales and use tax audit management with applicable state taxing authorities.
  • Manage external service providers; provide planning, review, and examination support.
  • Coordinate preparation of estimated and final payments associated with sales and use tax returns and audits.
  • Coordinate data collection and perform analytic review of specific areas which lead to risk analysis including product taxability, deduction or credit determination, and work paper substantiation of various tax filing positions.
  • Review and coordinate tax accruals within proper General Ledger accounts; maintain efficient tax technology processes and assist in communications with senior management.
What You Bring To The Table
  • Minimum 10 years of experience required; 11+ years of experience preferred.
  • Four‑year degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
Strong Understanding And Experience With
  • Sales and use tax compliance practices.
  • Sales and use tax laws, regulations, and rules.
  • Vertex Indirect Tax software.
  • Sales and use tax research software.
  • SAP enterprise software.
  • Compliance with audit response, including but not limited to data needs, deadline management, and problem resolution.

  • Ability to budget, manage audits, and lead staff roles effectively.
  • Analytical, problem‑solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Time management and organization skills; able to effectively manage and prioritize several tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Personnel management skills.
  • Ability to stay current with respect to sales and use tax laws and clearly communicate state sales tax laws to district personnel in support of sales invoicing.
  • Ability to communicate software change recommendations while developing a strong business relationship with the Company’s IT unit.
  • Occasional travel required.
Compensation Details

The expected starting rate of pay for this position is $125,000 - $140,000 annually, depending on experience. This position is also incentive eligible, based on specific and relevant business metrics.
