Job Responsibilities- Drive Tax Compliance Across All Jurisdictions:
Lead end-to-end preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax filings, manage the tax compliance calendar, support external advisors, and ensure all deadlines are met. - Deliver Accurate Tax Provisions & Financial Reporting:
Prepare and review quarterly and annual income tax provisions under ASC 740, maintain tax provision work papers, and assist external advisors with documentation. - Manage Audit Defense & Regulatory Inquiries:
Lead responses to tax notices, audits, and inquiries from federal and state authorities, track open correspondence, and ensure disciplined resolution. - Collaborate Cross-functionally as a Trusted Tax Advisor:
Partner with Accounting, FP&A, Legal, and Operations to gather data, assess tax implications of business initiatives, and provide guidance. - Conduct Tax Research & Monitor Legislative Developments:
Research current and emerging tax legislation, translate developments into actionable summaries, and coordinate with external advisors on technical positions. - Strengthen Tax Processes, Controls & Technology:
Identify and implement opportunities to improve tax compliance workflows, including automation enhancements in tax software and ERP systems such as One Source, Corp Tax, Oracle, and Workday.

Job Requirements- Required:
- 4 to 6 years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or a corporate tax department.
- Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing income tax provisions under ASC 740.
- Multi-state tax compliance experience, including insurance or franchise taxes.
- Experience supporting external auditors and tax advisors with documentation and technical analysis.
- Preferred:
- Prior experience in the healthcare, managed care, or insurance industry, especially with Medicare Advantage exposure.
- Experience working within a regulated payer or health plan environment.
- Exposure to insurance premium tax filings, statutory (STAT) reporting, or CMS-facing financial processes.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field (equivalent education and experience may be considered).
- Master’s degree in Taxation (MST) or specialized coursework in healthcare finance, insurance accounting, or regulatory compliance is preferred.
- Training:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel at an advanced level, including pivot tables, modeling, and data analysis.
- Working knowledge of at least one major tax compliance software platform (e.g., One Source, Corp Tax) and an ERP system (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP).
- Training in SOX compliance, internal controls, or finance process improvement is preferred.
- Familiarity with tax technology automation tools or AI-assisted compliance workflows is preferred.
- Licensure:
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
- Maintenance of the CPA credential is expected.

Competencies:- ASC 740 Income Tax Provision (Advanced) – Deep knowledge of quarterly/annual tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and effective tax rate analysis.
- Corporate Income Tax Compliance (Advanced) – Strong command of federal and state income tax return preparation, filing requirements, and planning concepts.
- Multi-State & Insurance Premium Taxation (Intermediate to Advanced) – Understanding of multi-jurisdictional obligations, including state insurance premium taxes and franchise taxes.
- Tax Software & ERP Platforms (Intermediate to Advanced) – Proficiency with One Source, Corp Tax, Oracle, and Workday, and ability to leverage these for process efficiency.
- Healthcare Industry Tax Knowledge (Intermediate) – Awareness of tax considerations unique to Medicare Advantage plans, CMS-related reporting, and GAAP interplay.
- Financial Statement Analysis (Intermediate to Advanced) – Ability to analyze and interpret financial data to support tax provision reporting and variance analysis.
