Job Title: Loan Officer I
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
The Loan Officer I is responsible for evaluating, processing, and administering consumer, commercial, real estate, and other credit-related loan applications. This position develops new business opportunities, analyzes creditworthiness, ensures compliance with lending policies, and maintains strong customer relationships while managing a loan portfolio.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Review, process, close, and administer loan applications and proposals.
- Interview applicants and obtain required information and documentation.
- Analyze financial statements, credit reports, collateral, and property evaluations to determine loan feasibility.
- Correspond with applicants, creditors, and other parties to resolve questions and obtain additional information.
- Approve loans within authorized limits or submit recommendations to the appropriate approval authority.
- Ensure loan documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and manage loan portfolio performance.
- Develop new lending and deposit relationships through business development and marketing efforts.
- Identify potential loan markets and cultivate prospective customers.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional relationships with clients.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or
- One to two years of related banking, lending, sales, or financial services experience; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, professional publications, and regulations.
- Ability to prepare reports, correspondence, and other business communications.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, management, and the public.
- Ability to calculate interest, percentages, commissions, discounts, and related financial figures.
- Ability to apply basic algebraic and geometric concepts.
- Ability to evaluate information, solve practical problems, and make sound decisions in situations with limited standardization.
- Ability to interpret written, verbal, and diagrammatic instructions.
- Proficiency in banking databases, spreadsheet applications, word processing software, and related business systems.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to:
- Sit, use hands, reach, talk, and hear.
- Frequently walk and occasionally stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Possesses close and distance vision necessary to perform job functions.
