The Office of Student Financial Aid is accepting applications for the position of Debt Management Counselor/Financial Analysis. The Debt Management Counselor/Financial Analysis will provide students with information as they enroll, of their rights and responsibilities regarding student loans and student loan repayment thru entrance counseling. AA/ EOE
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree with a minimum of 1 year experience in working in general business, banking, accounting, finance, or financial aid.
- Training in the financial literacy field is acceptable for consideration with any Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal communicator with both young adults and adults.
- Excellent and creative presenter.

- One year Financial Aid experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree with a minimum of 1 year experience in working in general business, banking, accounting, finance, or financial aid.
- Training in the financial literacy field is acceptable for consideration with any Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.

- Ensure that borrowers receive and return all required Entrance and Exit Counseling information.
- Inform student at exit from the University, options for deferments, forbearances and repayment thru exit counseling.
- Responsible for counseling student borrowers on ways to resolve delinquent accounts and to inform students of the importance of future timely payments.
- Establish and maintain relationships with student-loan service providers and guarantors.
- Assist agencies with skip tracing.
- Responsible for National Student Loan database system (NSLDS) delinquent files, programs and reports related to delinquent borrowers.
- Review delinquent borrower list from all guarantor agencies and take appropriate action.
- Responsible for mailing letters, sending and responding to e-mails, and phone calls to prevent loan defaults.
- Responsible for timely review of the annual cohort default rate evaluation.
- Responsible for maintenance and storage of old files and the destruction of folders after they are no longer needed.
- Processing of files provided by the Department of Education including ISIR, Pell Grant and Loan processing files.
- Review of loan origination and disbursement reject reports to resolve processing issues.
- Process and manage the transfer monitoring file exchange.
- Loan entrance and exit counseling communications including outbound emails and incoming files.
- FAFSA History correction file processing including review of rejects.
- Creation of the private loan certification report.
- Management of the suspense and duplicate file tables.
- Generation of weekly reports for counselors.
- Resolution of swipe discrepancies for disbursement of federal funds.
