Global Payroll Director

Location: Los Angeles Area (Hybrid, 2 days/week) - OT required Industry: Fast-growing Entertainment company Pay Range: $130,000 – $200,000 Type: Temp-to-Hire (immediate start needed)
Reports To: SVP, Accounting and Finance Operations Direct Reports: 3 Payroll Clerks

About the Role

Lead payroll operations across the US and international subsidiaries for a global, fast-growing entertainment company. US payroll runs in-house on Workday; international payroll is processed monthly via local providers with internal oversight. This is a temp-to-hire role — the team needs someone who can start quickly and may grow into the permanent seat.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a payroll team; set service standards and escalation protocols
• Oversee accurate processing of salaries, bonuses, commissions, equity, benefits, taxes, and garnishments across jurisdictions
• Manage global payroll calendars, compliance, and audit-readiness
• Partner with Legal, Finance, Tax, and HR on regulatory and risk matters
• Own payroll controls, reconciliations, and vendor relationships
• Drive automation, reporting, and system improvements (Workday, integrations)
• Lead payroll work streams for M&A, reorgs, and system changes

Requirements

• Extensive Workday experience; multi-state payroll
• Supervisory experience
• Experience with equity/commission payouts
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Preferred: M&A, software implementations, equity payout experience
