The Loan Officer Assistant is a full-time remote role that supports Loan Officers throughout the mortgage process. This role includes gathering, organizing, and reviewing borrower documentation, inputting and updating loan applications in the loan origination system, and tracking files through processing and underwriting. The assistant communicates with borrowers, Loan Officers, processors, and underwriters to ensure accurate information, timely responses, and a smooth loan experience.
Additional responsibilities include preparing basic disclosures, scheduling appointments, following up on outstanding conditions, and maintaining detailed records in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Experience supporting Loan Officers and familiarity with loan origination workflows.
- Knowledge of the mortgage industry, including loan products, basic lending guidelines, and compliance awareness.
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to provide clear, empathetic, and professional support to borrowers and partners.
- Understanding of underwriting fundamentals and the ability to organize and present documentation needed for credit and income review.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain next steps and respond promptly to inquiries.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines in a remote environment.
- Comfort with mortgage software, CRM tools, and general office applications (e.g., LOS platforms, Microsoft Office or Google Workspace).
- Prior experience in mortgage, banking, or financial services is preferred; a high school diploma or equivalent is required, and additional education in finance, business, or related fields is beneficial.
