DescriptionWithin authorized authority, and in accordance with sound underwriting practices as set out in policy and procedure, examines, evaluates, and authorizes or recommends approval of borrower's applications for credit or extension of lines of credit secured by real property. The incumbent accomplishes the job objectives as follows:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following job functions. Other job functions may be assigned from time to time. The job functions contained herein are intended to be supplemented by “Task Lists” which describe various individual tasks associated with each job function .
- Works with completed loan application prepared by Mortgage Loan Processor, or personally interviews applicant and requests specified information for loan applications.
- Analyzes applicant financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loans and acts on the disposition of the application.
- Corresponds with or interviews applicant or creditors to resolve questions regarding application information.
- Ensures loan agreements are complete and accurate according to policy and requirements set out in regulation, or secondary market purchases in the case of real estate loans.
- Confers with department personnel to aid in resolving mortgage application problems.
- Analyzes potential lending opportunities involved in each lending situation to further assist the borrower as well as increase the credit union's lending portfolio.
- Cross-sells members on the benefits of utilizing other credit union services.
- Performs ancillary duties related to real estate and other lending such as: escrow analysis, data input functions to mainframe or personal computer, etc.
- Performs other duties as might be assigned from time to time.

EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE:
A high school or general equivalency diploma (GED) is required; plus two to six years experience in mortgage underwriting in a full service financial institution, or any equivalent combination of formal training and/or experience which provides minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities, thereof.
