Job Description and Duties
Pending Department of Finance approval.
Under the general direction of the District Director, a CEA B, the incumbent is responsible for providing executive staff with management advice concerning environmental laws, regulations and policies governing the implementation and facilitation of all phases of environmental analyses necessary for delivery of Caltrans’ transportation and non-transportation projects across the District. The incumbent plans, organizes and directs critical, sensitive and/or complex environmental programs of major importance.
The incumbent has significant responsibility for formulating and administering policies, programs, methodologies, and strategic plans, and exercises discretion in the provision of oversight and coordination on a broad technically diverse range of projects and analyses. The incumbent appears before various federal, state and local government bodies to represent the District s interests; and maintains working knowledge of technical and administrative developments, and analytical methodologies in the field of environmental planning and engineering.

Working ConditionsPosition located at 50 Higuera St San Luis Obispo, Ca 93401, San Luis Obispo County
Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.
While at the base of operation, the incumbent will work in a climate-controlled office with natural and artificial lighting, and may experience periodic episodes with office temperature due to fluctuating building temperatures.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs.
Business travel may be required and reimbursement considers an employee s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
