The Analyst I will serve as the timekeeping analyst, purchasing analyst, and Return to Work (RTW) coordinator for the Division of Maintenance. The role requires independent judgment, teamwork, discretion, and the ability to interpret data, policies, and procedures. The incumbent will advise management, maintain confidentiality, and work under strict deadlines while understanding and applying Department, State and Federal law, policies, and bargaining unit contracts (BU12, BU1, BU4).
Responsibilities- Collect and analyze timekeeping and payroll data for the Division of Maintenance.
- Process purchase orders and manage vendor relationships.
- Coordinate Return to Work (RTW) programs for injured employees.
- Interpret and apply timekeeping and leave policies in collaboration with bargaining unit contracts.
- Provide timely, accurate recommendations and findings to management.
- Maintain high confidentiality, initiative, optimism, and accuracy.
- Eligibility for hire can be determined by the Analyst I exam.
- Current or future eligibility on the state exam list (e.g., transfer, reinstatement, LEAP, or SROA).
- Education, license or certificate that meets the minimum qualifications (verify through unofficial/official transcripts).
- Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.
- Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted; failure to include will result in disqualification. The SOQ must be typed, two pages or less, 12‑point Arial.
- SOQ must contain: (1) one paragraph describing yourself as if to a junior high audience; (2) one paragraph describing how stress affects you and what you do when stressed.
The workplace is a climate‑controlled, cubical office. The building temperature may fluctuate; occasional off‑site meetings, trainings and events may expose employees to dust, noise, uneven surfaces and extreme temperature. The position may require telework based on departmental policy. Commute to the headquarters (50 Higuera St., San Luis Obispo) is required for in‑office days, and all commute expenses are the employee’s responsibility.
