The Secretary of State’s Office, Political Reform Division is recruiting to fill a limited‑term, full‑time, Analyst I position. This role will support the California Automated Lobbyist and Campaign Contribution and Expenditure Search System (CAL‑ACCESS) and involves processing and reviewing registration and disclosure documents under the Political Reform Act.
ResponsibilitiesUnder the general direction of the Data Support Unit Supervisor, a Supervisor I, the incumbent performs a wide variety of increasingly complex and analytical tasks, including but not limited to:
- Processing and reviewing registration and disclosure documents filed under campaign and lobbying provisions.
- Operating standard office equipment, typing, standing, walking—performing routine indoor office tasks.
- Ensuring accurate data processing and analysis for large datasets.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience with database structure, queries, and analytics software such as Excel, Access, SQL, TOAD, and Power BI.
- Ability to work with large datasets and ensure accuracy.
- Flexibility to adapt to changes in tasks or work environment.
- Ability to build and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
- Interest in learning the importance of transparency in campaign finance and lobbying; knowledge of filer types, filing schedules, and disclosure forms required by the Political Reform Act.

Conditions
The work is performed in an indoor office setting and requires the incumbent to have knowledge of office methods and procedures and the ability to operate standard office equipment, type, sit, stand, and/or walk. The incumbent will maintain regular, consistent, and predictable attendance. This position is not eligible for telework.
Note: In accordance with Government Code Sections , the position is established for 12 months and may be extended for another 12 months; it may become permanent.
Minimum RequirementsAnalyst I. Salary ranges $3,861.00 – $6,276.00. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of an alternate range if applicable.
