Salary: $3,861.00 - $6,276.00 per month (New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary or alternate range).

About the Division

The CalSTRS Disability & Survivor Benefits (DaSB) Division administers two core benefits:
Disability Services and Survivor Benefits. Disability Services provides benefits to members who are unable to perform their usual duties due to a disability. The Survivor Benefits Unit supports members and their beneficiaries, providing financial stability for their loved ones.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Pension Program Manager I, the Analyst I in the Payment Release Unit performs analytical and technical tasks to support CalSTRS’ commitment to risk mitigation and superior customer service. Responsibilities include reviewing Disability Services and Survivor Benefits payments for accuracy, performing quality assurance, completing benefit payment assessments, identifying performance trends, and making service improvement recommendations.

  • Experience managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines with flexibility.
  • Detail‑oriented, able to identify and analyze payment processing errors and trends to mitigate risk.
  • Knowledge of pension laws, rules, and policies and ability to apply them correctly.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent attendance required to maintain workflow.
  • Initiative and ability to follow direction, working efficiently to complete assignments.
Compensation & Benefits

Employees may receive a 5% salary increase annually based on performance evaluation, up to the maximum salary for the position.

The 2025 Personal Leave Program will reduce monthly base pay by 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits (subject to PLP 2025). Salary ranges shown do not reflect the reduced amount.

Working Conditions

All staff are employees of the State of California and subject to California employment taxes and with holdings.
