Serving as an ARDC Specialist for the offenders assigned in a parish jail facility, local detention facility or work release in West Feliciana and Pointe Coupee Parishes, and the offender population of LSP.
Louisiana State Penitentiary (LSP) is the state’s only Class 1A facility and the only correctional facility providing custody and control of adult male inmates who have been sentenced to death.

Three years of experience in offender records analysis, offender classification, offender pre-classification, security, or social services or as a probation or parole officer; OR six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR a bachelor’s degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties- Counsels/advises and prepares paperwork for offender concerning reclassification, visitation, determines if a prospective visitor is a victim or victim family member, protection/enemy concerns, legal aid, vocational and educational concerns, transfers to other facilities, money and property concerns, notary services, incentive pay, indigent personal and legal mail, I.D. card placement, etc. Any special skills or license:
- Determine the offender classification status in compliance with legislation concerning legal parole eligibility.
- Reviews offender’s records on a daily basis for possible status reduction and/or work release consideration and eligibility for custody, job, or quarter’s reassignment.
- Offender contacted includes offender assigned to the in-patient Mental Health Program, Treatment Center, minimum custody, medium custody, and maximum custody (to include protective custody and death row).
