Job Description and DutiesHybrid Telework Opportunity
The Research Data Specialist I (RDS I) is the lead analyst in the Visualization & Analytics Unit, responsible for managing complex workforce data requests, developing interactive dashboards, and overseeing open data products. The position applies advanced analytic methods, ensures compliance with Data De-Identification Guidelines (DDG) and Data Governance standards, and translates complex data into accessible visualizations for policymakers and the public, primarily for the BH-CONNECT Initiative programs.
The RDS I oversees the workforce data mailbox, responds to high-priority inquiries, and reviews staff work for accuracy and quality. In addition, the role leads quality assurance efforts, develops standard operating procedures, and mentors other analysts, ensuring that HCAI delivers accurate, transparent, and user-friendly workforce data products.
HCAI offers a hybrid telework schedule with a combination of remote and in-office work schedules for CA residents only. The telework policy is subject to change, and additional in-office days may be required and/or minimal notification may be given to report to the worksite if an urgent need arises. Special RequirementsPossession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. - Experience developing dashboards in Power BI, Tableau, ArcGIS, or equivalent data visualization platforms.
- Experience designing accessible, user-friendly visualizations that communicate data effectively to diverse audiences.
- Experience performing data cleaning, analysis, and transformation using tools such as SAS, R, or Python to support visualization and reporting.
- Experience working with open data platforms and preparing data for public release and visualization.
- Experience developing and delivering presentations or data briefings tailored to different stakeholder groups, including technical and non-technical audiences.
