Our Office of Public Affairs' Media and Messaging Unit seeks an Information Officer to play a vital role in communicating meaningful information about our primary lines of business—retirement, health care, and investments—with our members, employers, stakeholders, and the general public. In this role, your outstanding writing skills will be essential as you craft clear, compelling, and accurate content across a variety of platforms, including articles, web content, social media, and external communications.

You’ll work with a team of talented professionals to perform a wide variety of communications, writing, editing, and research tasks critical to ensuring the retirement security of more than 2.4 million CalPERS members. The ability to translate complex topics into accessible, engaging language is a must, as is a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy in all written materials.

Telework Information: Hybrid position with up to 40% (two days) remote work each week.

Benefit

Note:

Effective July 1, 2025, CalHR implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). Each employee shall receive a 3% reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits per month. Salary ranges listed do not reflect the 3% reduction.
