Manager of the Toxics Control Section

State Air Resources Board – Job Control Number: 521714
Classification: AIR RESOURCES SUPERVISOR I
Salary: $11,437.00 - $14,315.00 per month (new to state employees will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification)

Responsibilities

The primary duties of this section include:

  • Implementing California’s air toxics program and developing airborne control measures.
  • Working closely with impacted communities to identify, understand, and reduce health impacts from air toxics.
  • Conducting and reviewing health risk assessments on a variety of stationary and mobile emission sources.
  • Coordinating with other CARB divisions, U.S. EPA, CalEPA, OEHHA, air districts, and government agencies on risk assessment practices and air toxics programs.
  • Managing technical projects, translating results into plain‑language policy recommendations, and leading cross‑divisional teams.
Minimum Requirements
  • AIR RESOURCES SUPERVISOR I
  • Experience managing technical projects and providing policy recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑divisional teams.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Effective leadership and mentorship skills.
  • Experience in health risk analysis, regulatory development, non‑diesel toxics, and air quality, toxics, and climate protection programs.
  • Ability to negotiate solutions to sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong written communication using direct, concise, non‑technical language.
  • Strategic thinking and clear articulation to audiences at all levels.
  • Experience building inclusive team‑oriented environments and maintaining positive relationships internally and externally.
  • Knowledge of health risk analysis, regulatory development, and related state, federal, and local programs.
