Job Opening:
Waynesville Central Dispatch Telecommunicator
The City of Waynesville is accepting applications for a Central Dispatch Telecommunicator. This position serves as a critical link between the public and emergency services by receiving and processing emergency and non-emergency calls and dispatching police, fire, and other emergency personnel as needed. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, detail-oriented, and committed to public service.

Location:
City of Waynesville Central Dispatch
- Receive, prioritize, and process emergency and non-emergency calls for service
- Dispatch police, fire, and other emergency personnel using radio and computer-aided dispatch systems
- Obtain and accurately document critical information from callers
- Monitor radio traffic and maintain communication with field units
- Enter, update, and retrieve information from law enforcement databases
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of calls and dispatch activity
- Follow established policies, procedures, and protocols
- Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to type accurately and efficiently
- Strong verbal communication and listening skills
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in stressful situations
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including holidays and weekends
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
- Prior experience in dispatch, communications, or public safety
- Familiarity with computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems
- Knowledge of local geography
- Emergency medical or public safety training certifications
