Water Department Chief Operator

Position

Chief Operator – Water Department (non‑exempt, hourly) – reports to City Administrator.

• Coordinate and direct all functions and activities of the Pevely Water Department.
• Plan daily operations, coordinate maintenance and upgrades, and respond to emergencies.
• Supervise all other employees of the Water Department.
• Collect and submit water samples per state/federal requirements.
• Manage the SCADA system and control chlorine or other additives.
• Collaborate with the Utility Department on billing matters.
• Submit monthly activity reports to the City Administrator.
• Assist in creation and management of department budget.
• Conduct employee evaluations.
• Attend evening meetings on occasion and be on call for after‑hour emergencies.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Missouri Driver’s License.
• DS‑II (or higher) public drinking water distribution certification from Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
• Computer proficiency.
• Experience working for a public water utility.
• Supervisory experience in a public water utility.
• Associate’s degree or higher related to the job is a plus.
