$6,488.00 - $12,152.00 per Month

The Regulatory Development Section (RDS) within the Monitoring and Laboratory Division (MLD) has an opening for an Air Resources Engineer who will be responsible for supporting a wide range of activities assigned to the Regulatory Development and Program Support Branch including
1) amendment of existing gasoline vapor recovery related certification and test procedures;
2) evaluation of existing stationary source test methods and development of new test methods; and
3) various technical assignments associated with CARB’s rule making process such as technology evaluations, literature reviews, population surveys, emission calculations, economic analysis, preparation of technical support documents, and drafting of regulatory text.
The selected candidate will be required to work collaboratively with numerous internal stakeholders (division partners who will provide legal, enforcement, and emission inventory related feedback) and external stakeholders (members of the public, community‑based organizations, facility owners/operators, technology providers, consultants, trade organizations, other state agencies, and local air pollution control districts) and will participate in and facilitate outreach activities such as one‑on‑one meetings, public workshops, focus groups, and board hearings.
May require in-state overnight travel.

Working Conditions

This position may be eligible for hybrid in‑office work and in‑state telework. The amount of telework is at the agency's discretion and is based on the California Air Resources Boards' (CARB) current telework policy. While the CARB may support telework, some in‑person attendance is also required.

The p ositions at the CARB may be eligible for telework with in‑person attendance based on the operational needs of the position under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria outlined in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of hybrid telework
