This Classification is scheduled to receive a 5% COLA effective July 2027.

Butte County is seeking an accomplished and collaborative professional to serve as a trusted leader, facilitator, project manager and communicator. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills, sound judgment and the ability to effectively represent the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) in interactions with internal departments, external partners and the community.

This position will provide leadership and coordination for a variety of County projects and programs, requiring the ability to build strong partnerships, facilitate complex discussions, manage competing priorities and drive initiatives from planning through successful implementation. The successful candidate will also possess knowledge of and demonstrated experience with financial management in a local government environment, including the ability to understand financial considerations, analyze information and support sound fiscal decision-making.

Qualifications

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration or a related field; and
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a governmental agency or non-profit, with responsibilities including organizational administration or financial and budgetary analysis. Experience preferably coming from work directly in the County Administrator’s office.
Certifications and Licenses
  • Must possess a valid US driver’s license upon date of application. Must obtain California driver’s license following hire date per California DMV regulations.
