Position: Ultrasound Tech I : Huntington Beach Imaging Center - Per Diem
Location: California

Overview

Under the direction of the technical supervisor and medical director, the Ultrasound Technologist I demonstrates competency and proficiency in all skills required to perform level I routine ultrasound procedures as defined by department protocols. Technologists utilize independent judgment and required knowledge to obtain high quality diagnostic ultrasound images. The technologist evaluates the technical quality of the images obtained prior to submission to the interpreting radiologist.

They educate the patient and family about the procedure and report all changes in the patient’s status, including initiating emergency response if required. They accurately document patient information in the appropriate hospital systems. Hospital-based positions may require call responsibility and rotation to hospital-adjacent imaging center locations. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate competency and proficiency in level I routine ultrasound procedures as defined by department protocols.
  • Use independent judgment and required knowledge to obtain high quality diagnostic ultrasound images.
  • Evaluate the technical quality of images prior to submission to the interpreting radiologist.
  • Educate the patient/family about the procedure and communicate changes in patient status, including initiating emergency response when required.
  • Accurately document patient information in the appropriate hospital systems.
  • Adhere to hospital policy regarding call responsibilities and rotation to imaging center locations as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education And Experience

Associates degree or higher. Graduate of an ARDMS approved ultrasound program. Minimum one year of experience is preferred but will consider new grads.

Hospital/OP Imaging locations only:
Experience may be considered in lieu of education if licensure and certification requirements are met. Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) approved program (exception for programs completed prior to 1994).
