Physical Therapist Assistant – UHC Staffing Physical Therapist Assistant

Location: Mound City, MO

Start Date: 12-01-2026

End Date: 03-02-2027

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (8-hour day shift; start times are flexible within the facility window and should be coordinated with the Director of Rehab) Day

Hours per Week: 35

Candidate Pay Rate: $41 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Deliver evidence-based rehabilitative and skilled treatment interventions under the supervision of a Physical Therapist
  • Administer manual therapy, ambulation training, therapeutic exercises and modalities to improve patient function
  • Assess patient progress and promptly communicate treatment adjustments to your supervising Physical Therapist
  • Document all clinically required information accurately in the electronic documentation system
  • Record treatment minutes and ensure regulatory compliance in all patient records
  • Provide patient, family and caregiver education and counseling to support recovery goals
  • Participate actively in patient care conferences, utilization review and rehabilitation meetings
  • Support the supervising PT with discharge planning and recommendations
  • Supervise and mentor students under the guidance of the Physical Therapist when applicable
Qualifications
  • Active PTA license (Physical Therapist Assistant) — Missouri licensure required (Compact allowed)
  • Minimum 1 year of PTA experience (required)
  • Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) or rehabilitation settings (required)
  • Comfortable working under PT supervision and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated ability to perform electronic documentation accurately and efficiently
  • Strong communication skills for reporting patient progress and participating in meetings
  • Adherence to APTA and state practice acts, professional code of conduct and ethics
Education
  • Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (typically an Associate degree) and attainment of PTA licensure
Knowledge & Skills
  • Rehabilitation principles and skilled treatment interventions
  • Patient assessment and progress reporting
  • Electronic clinical documentation and accurate treatment-minute recording
  • Manual therapy techniques and therapeutic exercise prescription
  • Use of supportive and assistive devices during treatment
  • Group therapy delivery and productivity management strategies
  • Medicare A/B knowledge and utilization review familiarity
  • Participation in rehab meetings and interdisciplinary communication
  • Ability to support DME requests and device-specific documentation
