Role Summary

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is an integral member of the medical affairs team. In this field-based role, you will support the development and lifecycle management of Takeda Oncology medicines. The primary objective is to engage scientifically with key opinion leaders in the assigned geography via accurate, scientific, and non-promotional information exchange. This territory covers Southern California and Nevada, with a preference for the candidate residing in Southern California.

Responsibilities
  • Apply subject matter knowledge and adaptive communication skills in supporting medical strategies for Takeda hematology compounds and in addressing unsolicited medical information requests from external stakeholders (health care providers with global to local influence, clinical study investigators, and population health decision makers).
  • Develop and leverage thought leader relationships by identifying mutually beneficial opportunities that meet the strategic needs of US Medical Affairs.
  • Provide medical insights and intelligence from the field to support the development and lifecycle management of Takeda Oncology compounds.
  • Participate in, lead, and contribute to projects and initiatives within a matrix environment that increase the value and productivity of US Medical Affairs Oncology (USMAO).
  • Establish relationships and engage in peer-to-peer scientific discussions around emerging data, treatment guidelines, molecular pathways, mechanism of action Takeda Oncology products including clinical outcomes and research opportunities.
  • Formulate and maintain a territory engagement plan aligned to US Field Medical priorities and execute the scientific engagement plan according to MSL priorities.
  • Regularly collect medical insights and intelligence from scientific exchanges with healthcare professionals and the medical community; ensure timely entries of insights into the insight tool for internal stakeholders.
  • Respond to unsolicited inquiries in accordance with the field medical SOP.
  • Support Takeda Oncology sponsored research and assist in identifying, evaluating, and screening qualified research sites for company-sponsored clinical investigations.
  • Actively participate in executing USMAO strategy at medical conferences and may co-lead a medical conference to inform leadership in the following year.
  • Identify potential qualified sites for future pipeline studies.
  • Present accurate, fair-balanced scientific information to external stakeholders in a variety of settings, including one-on-one interactions and at medical meetings or Takeda-sponsored engagements.
  • Complete all required training, activity documentation, expense reporting, and other administrative responsibilities.
  • Daily entry to hospitals and other medical facilities is required; comply with credentialing requirements and related policies.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    Advanced scientific or healthcare degree; doctoral degree preferred (e.g., Pharm

    D, PhD, MD, RN, NP or DMP/ARNP).
  • Required:

    Oncology experience.
  • Preferred:
    Hematology therapeutic area experience.
  • Required:

    A minimum of 3–5 years of healthcare, clinical, or related experience (residencies, post-doc fellowship, managed markets, clinical practice, research or academic).
  • Required:

    Superior oral and written communication skills and ability to engender trust and respect of peers, team members, and supervisors.
  • Required:

    Proficiency in communicating with KOLs, Medical Affairs, Research and Development, and other internal and external stakeholders using technical and scientific language.
  • Preferred:
    Clinical, research, or teaching experience.

    Ability to use field-based telephonic and computer tools; must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
