The purpose of this position is responsible for maintaining an infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP) that has been established by the facility. The IP position partners with the Corporate Staff, Administrator, Director of Nursing, the Medical Director, to promote and monitor the facility’s IPCP by implementing and maintaining infection prevention principles and practices including Antimicrobial Stewardship. The Infection Preventionist is accountable for decreasing the incidence and transmission of infectious diseases between residents, staff, and visitors through ongoing education and monitoring and by ensuring federal and state regulations and CDC guidelines are followed.,
The IP is a Key member of the facility Quality Assurance (QA) committee. Must be committed to person-centered care by embracing and following the facility’s goal of person-centered by demonstrating and being supportive of individual resident choice and controlled resident-preferred routines in all aspect of daily living.
INDSCE## Qualifications
** Qualifications
* * Currently licensed in the State as a registered nurse.
Must have worked at least five (5) years Long Term Care setting.
Ability to read and write and understand English and have effective written communication skills.
Ability to teach and/or make oral presentations to individuals and groups.
Ability to acquire knowledge of, comprehend and work under Federal, State, CDC and local regulation and facility policies, procedures, and programs.
Ability to perform effectively under stress.
Ability to relate positively, effectively and appropriately with residents, families, referral sources, community members and all level of personnel.
Ability to direct, delegate and follow-up on programs and care of the residents.
Experience in infectious disease, long term care, gerontology and /or rehabilitation.
Nationally certified in Infection Prevention and Control.
Meet all health requirement imposed by law.
